Im building a sump refugium and I have limited funds so Im looking for a skimmer that under 100$. I know thats allot to ask but I would like to put a Kessil 150 over the tank and cash will be tight.. The tank is a 28gal cube, not a bio cube. Im trying to build a sump to put the skimmer in. the sump measures 16Lx14Dx12H. Not sure of a pump size Either so you can see what Im up against..
Any info will be great. I have never built a sump before so this is a little scary.. :squigglemouth: Thank you..

Hopefully somone around here can help you out! :)

Instead of buying a cheap protein skimmer, I'd recommend doing frequent small watercahnges to keep your parameters in line. A sump that size is about 11.5 gallons when full, putting your total water volume at around 40 gallons total. If you were to change 1-2 gallons per day, that would be more than enough to keep your parameters in line and would probably eliminate the need for dosing.

As for the return pump, are looking for a submersible pump or an external pump?

Im looking for a submersible pump. Wow that stinks that the inexpensive skimmers cant do the job.. Thank you..

I got my coralife 220 for 80 bucks on Ebay. Yea its not by any means a great skimmer, but it's "rated" at 220 gallons. It's always done well for me though and there's some cheap mods you can do to make it work better.
