Perfect do you have any left? [email protected] really want to get into this and start growing stuff to pay it forward.
I have some gsp that I will give you but I can't be responsible for what else the rock has on it. I know I've seen some aptaisia on it so you would have to use it at your own risk or frag it up. Pm me if you want it. I'm in cullmanPerfect do you have any left? [email protected] really want to get into this and start growing stuff to pay it forward.

I always use kalk paste to kill mine but i love the blow torch idea! I have that encrusting gorgonia...i think its called anthelia, and every few months I do a good bit of kalk pasting with a syringe.I just blow torched most of it, with the exception of the two pieces I saved for Tidereefer and Oceanlife but I have a large colony that is the isolation tank my SPS eating urchin is in. I have increased the lighting cycle for that tank because I put about 30 pounds of rocks with GSP on it in there. Send me a message in a week or two and if that large colony is viable I will ship you some if you pay the shipping. I don't want to ship it until I know it will have good polyp extension (which it does not now because the light cycle on that tank is normally very short)
Hi Harry,Do you put the kalk paste on the GSP while it's in the tank or do you take the rock out? Does it kill them so they don't come back or does it just stunt them for a few weeks?

Hi Harry,
Good questions. I turn off all the flow in the tank except the return pump. I make a slurry of about 50/50 calcium hydroxide(kalk)/water(RODI). I use a 10 or 20 mL syringe and suck up some of the slurry and slowly inject it directly on the GSP or anthelia or aiptasia. As it comes out of the syringe it kind of turns from liquid to paste. I leave it on the invasive stuff for about an hour and then siphon it all off for a water change. At this point I refill the removed water and turn the flow back on and the water movement suspends any of the kalk I missed in siphoning where it harmlessly adds a little extra calc and alk to the tank. Within 24 hours all the anthelia or GSP has blown out the polyps and only the encrusting part remains. Within the next week the encrusting part has withered away and been skimmed out and the white bare rock remains. Be careful as getting kalk on corals burns the spots it hits. My montis often get some falling on them and end up with burnt spots. If I see it I turkey baste it off quickly and it prevents damage.
Thats is what I do anyway. I never get quite all of it and it always grows back over time and I must do it again. If I were smart I would do it a week after the first time after I can see what I missed and completely eradicate it, but there are always parts close to coral or under them that I cant get to.
Here you can see anthelia in the foreground before kalk paste:
Here you can see it after treatment, but you see the small spot I missed and therefore I will be doing it again in a few months
