I purchased two from NYAquatics a few days ago and they both arrived in super healthy condition. They were bigger than I expected, around 3". Not the super small captive bred yellow tangs you can find nowadays. But I do highly recommend them for purple tangs especially!

Couple weeks ago we had 2 neighboring lfs competiting against one another and prices got as low as $35 each

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying there is anything wrong from buying from any of the places mentioned above. I’m just looking for some that have already been adjusted to tank life and possibly/hopefully have been quarantined already.
Maybe someone looking to get out and are selling there fish. Someone trying to lighten there fish load. Maybe I’ll get lucky

The 35 was a once in a lifetime deal because of a new store having introductory prices. Standard price in NYC for purple tangs is 90 to 125. Unless someone is desperate due to a tank crash I'd doubt you'd find a qt'd one under 60 and even then you'd have to compete with 10 vultures who message within 60 seconds of that getting posted.
