He originally had white spots I treated with coppersafe but now he has white patch’s on both sides of his face is this ick does it change form spots to patch’s or is this something else

Sounds like it may have had early stage of velvet than ich. Domes signs of velvet are Heavy breathing, scratching, flashing, head twitching, erratic swimming behavior (unfortunately velvet shares all these same symptoms with ich & gill flukes.)
Continue treatment and assure Good water quality and diet.
Foods like LRS herbivore diet, mysis shrimp, spirulina, nori should be introduced/fed along with garlic extract and selcon vitamins added to the foods play an importance with immunity health.. as long as fish is eating and breathing normally, a freshwater bath will offer temporary relief
