QT Advice

Hey everyone, a little update! I've been treating the QT since Thursday. Tonight I'll be doing my 5th dose of ParaGuard and I'm very happy to report that only the Blue Hippo Tang has a couple dots left on him, about 4 of them only. The Powder Brown tang which was in the worse shape has no visible signs of ich anymore and no other fish is showing any symptoms!!! Thank you for the help, I opted to not go w/ copper and gave PG a try per my LFS guy's recommendation. I'm going to continue the PG treatments for 2 more weeks though for a full 20 days of treatment. All of the fish are eating great and seem genuinely happy in their new tank...but then again my Sargassum Trigger always looks like he's smiling! :)

Thanks for the update; glad everything is going well!

Just to make sure it's been said: Paraguard has not been proven to be 100% effective. To the best of my knowledge, there are no controlled studies that have found it to be 100% effective (as there are with other methods). The practical result of this is that you may go through a full treatment, and still have some ich in your tank/on your fish - which would be upsetting for me, at least.

Note that the saltwater treatment period for Paraguard is 28 days. Not sure if you've already done 8 days and that's why you stated, "a full 20 days of treatment", but just wanted to make sure. :-)

I have been "warned" that Paraguard hasn't been proven but it's all my LFS guy uses and he has stated that he's treated thousands of fish with it, including using it in his own home set up and has great success with it. IF he is wrong and ich presents its ugly head down the road, then that is on my for following his advice and I'll move on to copper :) Thanks though!!!
