QT set-up

Really need to get a quarantine tank setup for my 300 gallon tank. I have an extra 40 breeder sitting around as well as a fluval fx6. Don't really want to spend anymore on it since I already have the extra stuff sitting around. Thoughts? Assume I can turn flow down if it too much.

What do you plan on QT? Coral or fish or both?

You just need a HOB or a sponge filter. Throw the sponge in your tank for a bit to get it full of bacteria. Do weekly water changes and watch the ammonia level. If you do need to medicate, sponge filters are cheap and replaceable

If you have fish in qt you shouldnt need water chages for the 30-45 days that fish are in there. I had 13 fish in a 60 qt when I went fallow, only did water changrs to remove copper and never did changes when i was at therapeutic level.
