So we are new to the whole QT. Did not do it with our fresh water and got very lucky to only have one outbreak of Ich in our 150g tank. Well we set up a salt water tank and took the extra step to set up a QT. We are using an AIO 15 gallon with a lid. Only running a sponge in the filter with a few ceramic media pieces.

Like I said we are new to the QT.

It was not a cycled tank and combatted that with prime to keep ammonia down as well as daily water changes of 5 gallons from our RO/DI unit keeping salinity around 1.025.

We got a blue spotted puffer and luckly it was placed in there because it had flukes. Treated with PraziPro and all is good. After 4 weeks we moved him to our display tank that is currently FOWLR. it has only been set up for about a month as well with two clowns, a watchman goby and a clown goby. The display tank was set up with live rock and live sand so it was cycled (still very young) from day 1.

My question is since we just treated for flukes and saw no other signs of infections, how do I go about getting the QT ready for the next fish that will be a yellow Tang? Do I have to drain and disinfect everything? do I just make sure the bottom of the tank is clean. Need some guidance on this please.

my question is mainly due to not treating with copper or anything else other than prazipro that is basically out of the water column after 48 hours. There was not a major infection just flukes that cannot live without a host. The tank will be empty for about 3 week before we get the tang. So do I need to take it all down or will I be fine just doing a wc and letting it ride?
