Hello, I am curious what color spectrum Kessil lights have offered for the best coral growth in other user's experience/opinion? I am currently running 0 color at 25 intensity with 5 UV. Full soft coral tank.

It depends on the model being used.........

I run a ap700 and use the first 4 blues in the wheel for the cycle. I also run T5 sups but even without the T5’s the corals loved the light pattern. Ramp through the day. 4 hours at 70% and back down to 0. Lights 12” of water. 65 Gallon reef ready tank.

I would say based on being 9-12" mounted above water keep the intensity between 25-50%.........keep the red spectrum very low too..........
Yeah they're 12" above the tank. All corals on are on the sandbed. 0 red or green.

You will be fine then. Also as suggested by the other member.......ramp the lights up and down simulating sunrise/noon/sunset..........with intensity maxing out between 25-50% with those lights.

I gotta ask tho.......why 2 ap9xs and 2 a500x lights? Why not just 4 of one or the other?

I run 4 a360xs on my 8x2x2...........plenty for mixed reef...........

They are the same lights basically. They have the same output.

No the dense matrix arrays are completely different. So is the light spread. An AP9X runs 2 smaller DMAs similiar in size to the a360x series with a different mix of color LEDs ......the A500x is a point source single DMA .......with stronger output.

Not a big deal......but can be a bit more involved to tweak 2 different styles lights on a single tank..........

I use the 130 degree reflector on the AP500xs. I use those for the middle of the tank where most corals are and the AP9x on the outskirts to get light to the edges/corners.

3 a360x units on a 150 gallon 60”x24”x24”

55 degree reflectors 12” off the water (I have supplemental lights also, The kessils alone wouldn’t be adequate for my needs)

8 hour main peak photoperiod
100% color
65% intensity
65 violet
65 red
65 green

Par of around 300-350 on most of the rocks. 100-200 on most of the sandbed.

When I said first 4 earlier I wanted to clarify to I start at Deep Ocean Blue and go clockwise.

You can’t really go wrong with any of the color settings, I run mine at 100% color and 100% red, green, and violet most of the day with great results. The intensity you need will vary depending on the tank size and model being used.

Do you think it would be better to run them at 5 color and 35 intensity or 0 color and 40 intensity for overall coral growth?
