Hi all!

I've been debating a UV sterilizer but don't have a manifold so it would go on it's own pump. I was trying to avoid adding a 4th pump to the sump (2 returns and 1 on carbon reactor), do you think it would be ok to run it from the carbon reactor pump? So pump -> uv -> carbon -> out?

Using a sicce 1.5 at max 350 gph as the pump.

Thanks!

Well, for starters do you run your Carbon 24-7? Since most people don’t run carbon that much it would not keep things flowing through the UV.

I would figure out a way to split off your main return and feed it back to your tank. No need for a Manifold, just a T and a valve to restrict a little flow in the UV.

I do run carbon 24/7. Change it when the water looks a little discolored. I was really trying to avoid replumbing anything also because I use spa flex tube on the returns.

It will work to run it with the reactor, just make sure valve is before the uv not after.

You mean put a ball valve on line from pump to uv?

If you want to control the flow from your pump through your reactor or uv then yes use a ball valve (or gate) before the uv. Don’t want any pressure build up in there by using a valve after it.
