I have a Royal Gramma in QT going through TTM right now. I noticed white stringy poop, so I ordered some focus & metro to soak food in. I am curious if I can thaw and soak a cube or half a cube of food and then refreeze it, or just refrigerate it. It being just one little fish will be a huge waste of food and meds to freeze and soak for each feeding, but also unsure if freezing or letting it sit will diminish its effectiveness.

Thawing and freezing isn't great, but it's not terrible either. If all it's eating is frozen, then I think that would be fine. Otherwise, I usually prefer soaking dry foods like pellets, as you can be more sure that it's actually getting eaten.

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to get it to eat pellets as well, but shows zero interest. This is only day 3 in QT so it is still not real confident in it's environment. I only drop in a shrimp or 2 at a time when feeding frozen and watch it eat, and then remove what it does not eat. Will continue to try and get to eat pellet as well.

I "slump" frozen cubes in the fridge for my fish all the time. Place in a tupperware. Let the frozen cube ( I do 6-7 cubes) "slump" in the fridge. Add a drop of Selcon vitamins. The mix stays good for several days in the fridge. Here's a great post by Jsker. It changed how I feed my fish. They eat like pigs and look better than ever.

Interesting post. I am going to look into that a bit more. Seems like a good way to raise overall health and nutrition as well.

I buy 6-7 different kinds of frozen cubes: Cyclops, mysis, brine shrimp, seaweed, fish eggs, etc. Take one cube of each and place into tupperware container in the fridge. Usually takes overnight for the cubes to "slump". Then I add 5-6 drops of Selcon and one cube of freeze dried blackworms to the mix. Stays good for a few days in the fridge. But I also cultivate "white worms" for my fish. Much easier than black worms which require refrigeration. Eating some "live" food is great for your fish. Check out this thread by PaulB on white worms. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/give-your-white-worms-a-bath.350754/#post-4365170

I do pretty much the same. I make my own special concoction once a week. A mix of several frozen, nuke it for 1 minute to thaw, lightly strain. Add garlic, selcon etc (till it is a pasty substance). Refrigerate in Tupperware till empty. That is the @4FordFamily way. Obviously if I was in the middle of a metro treatment I would mix it in as well with focus upon making it. I do keep separate food for feeding DT/QT just to be sure not to take a chance on cross contamination.

I usually use a shotglass to store my food mixture in. I'll mix together all kinds of stuff. If medicating, there is a separate shot glass for that. Just keep it in the fridge until it's gone, but letting it sit there for longer than 4 days is pushing the envelope just a bit.
