Quick question about VDM

So I bought a vdm for my Coralbox pump and just ordered a Kessil to Neptune Apex controller wire since it utilizes the headphone Jack and Ethernet plug . Will this work with my Coralbox pump which is apex ready or do I need one specific for that pump? TYIA.
