im satisfied and happy...our LFS has a wellso and color is just red and green and its $200...From your photos it's looks like a very nice, but fairly typical coloration. Doesn't seem to me that the website photos are very accurate, are they?
Nice looking coral. It would appear this is the latest fad to hit the hobby and that prices have been skyrocketing in recent months. Also, am I alone in being bothered by the industry/hobby still insisting on using an invalid scientific name such as Wellsophyllia?
I agree, it's a trachyphyllia.
how can you tell without seeing the shape of the bottom of the coral?

Why would it matter???
Wellsophyllia is no longer a valid name and some people argue the same thing for the species name radiata.
generally speaking in the trade, welsos have flat bottoms and trachs have pointed bottoms. i did a quick google search and found a quote from steven pro stating that "welsophyllia" is no longer a valid name. i'd be curious to learn more about this!
