Nice! I love DIY builds! I have a 40g breeder and just throw a bag in the sump. My sump is a 20g tall too. You don't have much sump space so if you're going to use a reactor I'd recommend one for gfo, which needs to tumble more than carbon IMO. I actually took my gfo reactor offline after starting with nopox Carbon dosing. I wouldn't do it on a brand new tank though. Mine is 6 mos. old. Check out my build thread in my signature if you like. It has a ton of info, plus a ton of mistakes hopefully you can avoid! Feel free to ask any questions you might have and look forward to watching your build!hello y'all, somewhat new to the forum, I hardly posted but creep around a lot But I'm building a 40 gal breeder tank with a 20 gal tall sump. Will a carbon reactor "benefit" the tank? My tank is mainly SPS and Zoa heavy and 3 Duncan's. (All in a biocube 29 right now) I'm still fairly new to all the chemistry that goes on in this hobby. So far the sump will have a protein skimmer, and a refugium With maybe a mangrove plant or two.![]()

That would stress me out too. I would put up a post asking about that and read up. Lots of people upgrade and you're sure to get some good tips. Thanks for the quick response and I'll be taking a look at your build! It's an idea being tossed around right now. Im defiantly going to let the tank do its thing for awhile before i do anything. The only thing that's gonna stress me out is transferring everything from the cube to the new tank.
