I recently acuired some purple hornets which many of you helped me to realize were actually blue hornets:crossedlips:. Any ways I am in the process of trying to acuire some red hornets but I want to know exactly what I am supposed to look for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

I would say get pics only in daylight shots. 3 angles and make sure 1 is a bird eye view. (top down)

Other than that...you have a few pic on google that you can relate and see what it looks like. However sometimes you never know what your going to really get off the net...If its at the person/sellers house check it out first.
Good luck and hope this helps.

So I was reading on another site and there was some debate as to whether they had white mouths or not. Any input?

mine has white mouth, pink rings, blueish purple disk. Alternating redish burgandy and brownish red skirts... mine lost color though due to stress.

Some are more prominent than others, some is just a slit , but it's white. Not all of mines are prominent.

I would also want a side by side shot with another BRIGHT coral to compare it to. If the RH is dull and not as bright - its a morph that has been around for a while and labeled "red ring" something or another.
I've had those before and they aren't anything special.

If possible get a side-by-side with a purple hornet. If someone has the money for Red's, they should already have true ph's.
If its just as bright, then I would buy them.

It should look like this
except red/orange in place of the yellow.

thanks guys. The white mouth is what my concern was. That I found it was the difference between purple hornets and blue hornets. I thought that I had purple hornets but because of the white mouths I was told that they were blue's. Just making sure that I was'nt going to fall into the same problem again. Thanks for all of your help

I believe you are probably referring to PHE Red Rings, but they have a green skirt, not a red skirt.
