Has anyone see one of these before? I've got a green with blue center but this red in this type of coral is new to me.
 
You could be right. I just thought that favias generally have uniform polyp sizes other than the growing edges. Fwiw, it was labeled a platy but now you've got me thinking.
 
That's a favia for sure. Favias don't have to have uniform polyp sizes. Is that from Dr. Mac?
 
Yes, and it's their picture.

Looking at my platy the heads all share a ridge but this one looks different. It does seem like yours wicked.
 
NOT a favia, Its a favites pentagona, same family,Trust me. May be tyree big mouth war coral, but not if the blue stays in the mouth.

That is not a Favities. With Favities polyps share a common wall. That is not a Favities pentagona.

I could tell it was from them just by the oversaturated picture. lol
 
True, they do tend to do that. lol. Well, I'm getting it tomorrow so I'll try to take some pictures and see what ya'll think then. I know I'm a bit anal. :)
