Hi guys,
Just wanted to say to anyone who is just starting out to keep going! Things go wrong along the journey but you learn from your mistakes and things become a lot easier.
Since I started this hobby I stayed away from Coral because in my mind they were hard to look after and require too much attention.. Some people actually told me this too.. Rubbish! It is quite the opposite tbh!! I purchased a Red Sea Nano Reefer which is absolutely beautiful. Get yourself a sump setup, Grab yourself a skimmer, decent powerhead, correct lighting and you are there! All this ‘dosing’ is NOT required! In fact if you start dosing your coral will then depend on it so I would suggest staying away. Literally just make sure you do a water change once a week.. I change at least 25% of my water every Saturday. Sometimes a bit more. I purchased a Duncan Coral, reason for this is because they beautiful but actually tell you if your water quality is good.. If they are open and friving then all is ok, if they are closed there is a problem. They are first to close over any coral.. If that is the case do a water change straight away. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I did a water change straight away, 30 minutes later everything was open again and all happy.
It is an amazing achievement, to have a hobby that you enjoy that much and get a sense of achievement is amazing!
My wife never really liked having a tank but now she’s telling me what coral she wants lol.
Keep going guys!
My tank recorded this evening after adding my Australian Torch Coral. Link down below. [emoji846]
