I find that nems prefer larger chunks of meaty seafood (which is good because fresh seafood is cheaper than reef roids)

Probably better of feeding mysis or a small piece of shrimp

Yeah I give him a shrimp and other meaty thing. I was just wondering if roids might also be useful.
