Refugium light distance

Water depth is about 8 inch. How far away should the light be from the waterline?

As far away as you can go without it spilling into places you don't want algae to grow.

No, I think where it's currently at is fine. You aren't going to "burn" the algae.

What were you trying to change? It looked fine as is.

The ONLY thing I'd be worried about with the height with a setup like that would be salt creep making it into the light.

I use that same light on my refugium - it's water proof.
