Regenerating deionization resin

Ive got my deionization resin sitting in sodium hydroxide water outside in a 2 liter coke bottle for a week now. It got too cold to perform the hydrochloric acid soak, and it sat for this time (both anion and cation).

Any problems with being soaked for a week in sodium hydroxide?

Any problems with the water freezing?

The cation and anion are in sodium hydroxide for a week, and have been frozen. Thats my concern.

One floats and the other sinks in lye. Then you separate the two and acid soak the bottom one.

it might be for some, not for me. It will save me lots of money, and should only take 3 hours to do it. Imagine you have a 5 gallon bucket full of di resin, thats a lot of money invested in it. Throwing it away would cost you 200$
