Regular epoxy in tanks??

Anyone ever use the regular epoxy that you get from lowes or home depot in their tanks? Was wondering if its reef safe...

You mean the green w/ white center, right?

it's the same stuff, I use it all the time...

I believe when i saw it, it was white with green center... does it make a difference if its the green center?

It's called Aquamend and the hardware stores sell it in the glue section. It looks like this:

I use marine epoxy from Lowe's or HD. Green or blue outside and white inside, mixes white.

Lowes doesnt seem to have aquamend or anything that says marine epoxy...

I have about 25 tubes of Aquamend in my tank as we speak. I love the stuff.... Its much nicer paying 3.99 over 18.99 for the same stuff at the LFS. OMG its coraline purple! who cares.

i like the loctite brand blue outside white inside. sets up much faster than aquamend. the lowe's around here has it.

aqua mend from HD is fine...DO NOT use the grayish on gray impostor they have at menards..plumbers something its called...you mix it up and as soon as you put it in the tank it starts breaking up and falls apart.

It has always been my understanding that you only use the epoxy that states "for potable water lines" only i have had and have talked to people on forums that there skimmer goes crazy for 2 or 3 days if not using one that says for potable water. Homedepot usually has one that says this in the upper left corner of the package. My skimmer continues to run correctly when using this one. Hope this helps

I've never had any problem with my skimmer with the loctite brand, i most likely have 10 sticks in my tank right now. for me the aqua mend takes way too long to harden.
