ok guys i got an idea tell me it its just stupid or it it would actually work. now back in my freshwater days i built a denitrificator tube. its a 4"x3' or so tube thats capped at both ends. it has a fitting on the top and on the bottom. i was thinking what if i filled it with sand and pumped water in with a small pump into the bottom of the tube. the water would have to fill the tube traveling through all the sane and exit through the top of the tube where its pushed back into the tank.

i dont have a sump at all in my 46g reef tank and i have this thing and the pump laying around. all i would need is the sand. would this help anything do you guys think?

Yup, those out there. Fluidized sand beds. Running it slow enough turns it into a DSB.

would it pretty much be a better version of a denitrification coil? would it help with phosphate and stuff too? i always have 0 nitrate but i have some green hair algae. i dont have a hanna checker and my ati or api i forget lol checker seems kinda iffy at best.

THey both operate they same way, as far as I know.
Yes, it will remove phosphates, but at what rate per gallon of water, that i'm unsure of. If your running 0 nitrates I'd recommend going with a GFO reactor or liquid Lanthanum product.
