hey guys, so im getting in an eel soon which will go into quarantine. My qt was currently treated with cupramine. Now im wondering how fast can i remove the copper with carbon and waterchanges. Im scared if i have to resetup the system the cycling wont be done in time. I have like 1,5 weeks.

What should i do best?

Best way is to perform 100% WC. Then run carbon to clean up any residual.
So no need to scrub off the panels or use bleach? Thats good news because so it keeps beneficial bacteria right? Thats good news! Thanks

I agree with HotRocks, 100% water change and then run carbon for a 24-48 hours to pick up an residual copper from your media
Its a quarantine system so no media besides a sponge. 2 pvc pieces aswell. Ill use a seeded one from my dt.

The sponge will be plenty if its been up and running for awhile, I just meant any water that might contain copper that was lingering inside the sponge after the water change.

Can try those polyfilter pads. Heard its good for removing copper.
I would prefer these over carbon. Much more efficient at removing copper. They also change color based on what contaminant is removed so you can tell when all of the copper is removed. I would run them in the system for at least a few weeks before letting GAC become the regular method of control.

Rinse the sponge under warm tap water. The bacteria will be just fine and you can get the crud and copper out of it.
