I'd say the tubing you are using is too weak/flimsy if the pump is able to blow it off the barbs. Replace the tubing with this Braided Vinyl

What works for me is this: Use tubing that is slightly smaller than the hose barb (or even a straight piece of PVC). Heat the end of the tubing in boiling water for a few minutes - until it is nice and pliable - and then slip it on the end of the pvc as far as you can. Now, submerge the connection in cold water. The tubing will shrink down on the pvc/barb so tightly that you will have to cut it off. I haven't used a hose clamp in 25 years and have yet to have a connection made that way come apart on it's own.
