I'm just getting a slow trickle out of my return pump. Not sure if it's dirty or dying but could that be causing nutrients to build up in the tank since there is less volume flowing through the system and not hitting all the filtration in my sump? Any tips on cleaning it or should I replace it? Seems like it's just generating heat at this point

Sounds like you need to take it apart and soak in citric acid, (vinegar it turns out destroys the magnets), to get it back up.

Is that something I can pick up at a hardware store?
