Return pump tubing

I recently purchased a Syncra Silent 0.5 pump to replace a return pump on my tank.
The tubing seems to be different than what I had and I am trying to figure out what I need for this pump.

Description on the pump is

• Inlet: 1/2" Female NPT or 3/8"-9/16" Hose
• Outlet: 1/2" Female NPT or 3/8"-9/16" Hose

I have 1/2 inch black vinyl tubing at home but it doesn't seem to fit the pump.
What am I missing here? I feel like it is just a connection or tubing somewhere that I need to make it work.

Good question, is your tubing ID or OD sized?

If it is close, putting the end of the tube in hot water will help relax it for installation
