RODI Unit Recommendations

Looking for RODI suggestions for new 75G

Know current tap water situation factors in - but do not know mine.
I live in downtown Chicago if that helps for estimate.
Prefer smaller sized unit given condo living.

What would be your recommendation? Have been looking at BRS 4 Stage Value +

We use the BRS 5 stage. Designed to handle chloramines better than the 4 stage. We bought the one with the TDS meter and pressure gauge. Works perfectly. Easy to set up.

Thanks - any advice on RODI water storage size / salt water mixing container?
Would 10 gall be too small? 20 gallon?

Trying to save space being in the condo, and avoid having extra large Brute cans (54gal) if I can.
Any additional RODI preferences welcome

What size tank you have might play a role in how much water you want to have on hand. We have a 35 gallon storage that sits on a rack above the bathtub of our guest bathroom. We run a 90g tank and a 24g tank but having 30ish gallons of water ready when we need it is handy. We also have several 5g water jugs for transfer or fresh water storage.

I like to keep enough water on hand that I can do a 50% when disaster strikes. For me that means a 55g barrel, but I have the luxury of a basement fish room for that sort of thing. The biggest storage container you can manage will serve you best IMO.

While I bought and use a BRS unit, had I known many years ago about @Buckeye Hydro I would have totally gone with one of their systems.

Russ will actually have you call him and get the system you need, and not uneeded parts you think you need.

I do buy all my replacement filters from them though. Great CS and second to none.

I have the BRS 4 stage RODI with water saver and love it. Works great! I can do about 140 gallons a day.

Horizontally oriented Di canisters, typically result in channeling of the water through it. Resulting in it not being very effective.

Just something you should be aware of with that unit.

Not sure where you're getting 90% from but almost every RO/DI on the market uses vertically oriented DI cartridges. The RO membrane is typically oriented horizontally.

I just did my write up, $99 for the 75 GPD unit that hooks up to either kitchen faucet or laundry and stores away. I've had it for several years, and tested it today as my filters are a year old and 0 TDS.

I make 5 - 10 gallons a week. 0 TDS after a year even surprised me for the little budget rodi unit that I bought a number of years ago.

The city should publish water reports so you can get a ballpark idea if you need extra filters. Anyone who is recommending extra stages without knowing your water is spending your money for you.

I think it has to do whether or not you pack the resin or if you have a commercially packed stage. My unit is horizontal,. but I change the whole stage. Other units, the user can open and replace the resin. The commercially packed might stages might not shrink and shift as much.

In any case, after a year of service, my RO is putting out 2 TDS and the DI is putting out 0 TDS all laying on their sides.

Which ones have a horizontally oriented DI? There are approximately 40 RO/DI systems pictured here, so by your math 36 of them should have horizontally oriented DI cartridges.
