I been using esv salt for 4 months since starting my tank. After sending in ati test and it coming back with salinity super low at 31.31. I purchased a new veegee stx3 refractormeter and calibrated to @Randy Holmes-Farley 35ppt formula. Well I've done like 5 water changes (25g each) salt mixes at 9.4ish. I use muratic acid to drop it to 8ish since that's where I'm trying to keep my alk stable at. But now my ca is 460-470ppm. I want like 420ish like I had it before raising my salinity to proper level.
I shut down my ca dosing to let it drop. But I'm thinking of trying the red sea blue bucket as it says it mixes around 8dkh and 420 which is right where I want it. Except I have a brand new esv bucket I just got so I dont wanna Just toss it. Is there any way to lower ca on fresh mixed salt or just let my tank drop to 420. Then just do 20g WC every 2 weeks. Not sure what 20g WC at 470ppm ca will change my tank if I had it at 420?

460 isnt to high for 8DKH? oh...

the calcium values matter very little as long as it is between about 400 and 550 ppm. In that range, vitals can get all they need without it being a limiting factor in growth, and isn’t high enough to appreciably accelerate abiotic precipitation.
