I've been using Salinity from the start (only about 8 mnths) and get 7 to 8 dkh. Usually closer to 7. I do biweekly w/c and haven't found much need for additional dosing except mg which seems to stay close to 1200 ppm. Oh yeah, I dose nopox also which I'm sure keeps alk down.

You don't need electric valves. Well calibrated dosing pumps, a few float switches, and a controller make it very doable. In fact automatic continuous daily water change systems are becoming common in specialized coral systems.
Ok, I really gotta get my head around this automatic water change methodology. Where can I find a detailed description of it? If I have a concern it would be that it seems as though many small changes won't have the same benefit fewer large changes. Where do I get more info?

This is a fancy example but a lot of information here.

The main reason as I see it is stability. A daily water change system helps ensures the best and most stable system.

Sure a large single water change vs daily change of the same volume the single will replace more water. If your goal is reducing nitrates/phosphates that are an issue then a single does that well. A daily water change is about having a consistent stable system in both chemistry and nutrients micro/macro. That is does very well.
