Guys
I just got a doser and want get that running.
I maintain my KH at 7.7

My daily consumption is 40ml

Last weekend I measure regularly to understand when the KH will drop. Here’s what I monitored

Day 1
10.30am 7.3
5.20pm 7.15
Add 20ml at 5.25pm
6.30pm 7.45
10.25pm 7.3

Day 2
12.57am 7.15
Add 20ml at 1am
1.50am 7.7
10.45am 7.45
2.45pm 7.45
4.35pm 7.15
9.20pm 7
Add 20ml 9.27 pm
10.35pm 7.3
Add 20ml 10.55pm
11.40pm 7.7 pH

Can someone advice how to schedule the doser? Correct me if I am wrong, I should dose from 6 am to 12am (18 hrs) hourly 40ml ~ 2.2ml /hr.

What do you test with and what do you dose? Those don't seem to be terribly large swings.

I may be wrong but seems unusual that adding 20ml of the same alk buffer would result in so many different alk values only shortly after dosing...

I test with salifert and I am using Fauna Marin Balling Light.

I noticed that too but it’s only a 3 point data and the interval duration between adding and test varies

You data is not wrong. It’s simply showing that your alk consumption stopped at some point in the evening. Alk consumption swings from 0 at night up to its peak about 3hrs after lights on. It is NOT flat consumption. The KH directors are getting new firmware soon to track dosing quantities throughout the day so soon we will be able to show this to people on a graph.

A number of folks report more alk demand during the day than at night. It would be nice to know how much of that is due to organisms vs abiotic precipitation (both of which may rise as pH rises), and how much is due to pH vs how much is directly due to photosynthesis by the calcifying organisms (both of which rise during the day). I believe the dosing quantity trends that will be coming out over the next few weeks will have a very big impact on the way people dose. That is if they are trying to achieve a 0.1dkh swing measured across any time of day.

I dose 4ml x8 per day. I am allowing my KH Director to adjust the dose as needed. At night I am seeing an 80% reduction in dose to maintain 8.5dkh BUT I am also seeing an 80% increase to my dose during peak hours of the day.
