I'll post two pictures. They are of the same scoly. The first one was a couple/few months ago and the second will be a current pic as of a few minutes ago with my phone. I am wanting to know what could cause the loss in color as well as not opening up as much. It happened slowly over time and I didn't notice until I posted an old picture of it on another forum. Thanks for your help.

Tank is a 120 4x2x2
100+lbs of pukani rock
120lbs of live sand
It has been on the sand bed under 4 ATI Blue + bulbs one white and one actinic t5. Low to mid flow. Calcium has been 400-420. Alk 8-9.5. Mag was 1045 and is closer to 1300 now. I use reef crystals. I have never seen anything messing with the scoly.

Tank mates are:
Two black clowns
Perc clown
Yellow tang
Scooter blenny
Green mandarin
Dot dash wrasse
Lucbocks fairy wrasse
Six line wrasse
Zebra lion (one week ago)

Cuc:
Nassarious snails
Turbo snails
Large peppermint shrimp x5-7
Cleaner shrimp
Sandsifting starfish
Red knobby star

This is a quick phone pic I just took.

I moved into a low light area just before the shot it has been in the direct light since acclimation.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried moving it to a different flow spot?
Have you changed anything with the lights?
Added different chemicals?
Do the peppermints pick at it after you've feed the scoly?

Just throwing out suggestions. I've brought back a few that my buddies have made recede. The spot they liked best was low light and medium flow from the undertow my mp40 created. HTH

did you feed the scoly one day a week? sometimes they have worms under if i was you i look under just to be ok

When I first got it I would directly feed it frozen mysis shrimp but it never seemed to consume it like I thought it should. It would open up and get really puffy like I would imagine it should, it's mouth would turn inside out but I never saw it actually eat a piece of shrimp. Then I stopped and it ate when I fed the tank mysis, reef chili, phyto. It then stopped puffing up.

By worms under it what do you mean? I have picked it up and there aren't any on the sand bed but there is one that is attached to the skeleton and is growing away from it. I'm not sure if it's a worm but it looksl like the skeleton of a feather duster. I have them in several places on my rock. Haven't thought anything about them.

Some more older pics. It hasn't done this in a while.

I haven't changed anything with the lights since I got the scoly. No chemicals. The only thing that has happened is that I have had cyano. So I have had high phosphates, but I would think it would like that...

Thanks for the help guys. Keep it coming. I would really like to save this guy.

I have never seen the peppermints go on the scoly. The only thing that has has been the scooter blenny, but it doesn't take food from it.

I have moved it all over the tank to try different light/flow combos. It is currently in a very low light low flow area.

try a dip whit lugols maybe she have some bug piking her.a few months ago i have the same problem whit and i found some tiny holes in the skeleton or remove that thing that look like a worm maybe is stresfull for her.i hope you can save the scoly bro!

Thanks! I'll remove it in the morning and look into the dip. That worm thing appears yo be growing outward so I didn't try to remove it.

Would coral RX be the same type of dip? I have that on hand. If not I'll get the other stuff.

Update:

Today I got a Tupperware container and fed the scoly as well as my acans. Its mouth opened and closed as normal. Its skirt closed but it's "tentacles" (I have no idea what they are called) did not come out. I put the acans back into the tank.

After that I did a coral RX dip for 10 minutes. Nothing came off except for some pods. I picked the new tube worms off of the scolys skeleton they were very easy to remove. I have pictures of everything. Does anyone know what type of worms these are?

Each is very tough. I have to assume that it is the skeleton of the worm/whatever. I have the tools to get these off if need be but I don't want to damage the coral if it isn't necessary.

This is how it currently stands.

I'll give this a nudge for the night time people :)

Another update.

The scoly appears to be happier after the dip. It is opened a little more and seems to have a little more life and puffiness.

The flesh is now back over most of the spiny processes of the skeleton.

It has started to react to the lights and food min the tank. I'm happy that it is getting happy :)

I would still like someone to comment on the worms on its skeleton

Another update with pictures.

I don't know they technical terms or anything, but where the tentacles come out there is a gap now and I am starting to see them again! It still seems to be going in the right direction.

It is touching the sand again. So all seems to be well with the scoly :)

I've seen things like that on numerous LPS species (ie.) torches, scolys, cynarina, and acanthophyllia. From my experience they've done nothing to harm said coral. P.S im pretty sure that coral ya got there is an acanthophyllia :)

Thanks! :) I knew when I would look for it it was hard to find one like it. I also knew liveaquaria called it a meat coral or donut coral which also threw me.
