My tank is sitting at 7.8 PH. I want to raise it up to a more ideal level. I ordered Seachem marine buffer which guarantees it will safely raise tank to 8.3 ph. Has anyone used this before and can give me some pros and cons of it before I use it. Thanks

I used it . It works well ! I added more flow at the top of the tank and ph is holding at 8.2 if it it does go down I will not hesitate to use it again.

Careful. Marine 'buffers' actually raise alkalinity. It's best to track alk. Generally, don't worry about pH.

My alk is currenlty sitting at 7.6 so if it raises up a little more I wont mind

7.8 if fine. Once you get enough coral to dose then it will generally run higher. Remember, pH also fluctuates with the light and CO2 levels in the house. I doubt the buffer is a one time and now its magically fixed.

Definitely does raise alk.... My local LFS sold me this stuff because I was maintaining about 8.1ph. Dosed twice to get ph in range and BAM, Alk shot up. Ended up doing a water change because I hadn't checked alk in a couple days. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
