I have a 75G tank at the moment with a 30G sump, I will be upgrading the main tank to a 6 foot long 125G and I want to know what would be the right size for a sump? I have a couple of tanks in storage, I have a 40G, 20G, and now that I'll take down my 75G I'll have that as an option along with its 30G that I was using as a sump. Any advice will be highly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

I have always thought bigger is better with sumps. More room for equipment, also more system volume equals more stable parameters. It also increases your cost a bit, but hey reefing isn't cheap...

So the 75g would be great, aslong as it fits, haha. You could even use the 40g as the main sump and make the 30g a really cool refugium. maybe add some neat macroalgae, like dragon's breath or a mangrove and put some cool inverts in there. all space permanent of course.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
