Shading with LED

You bought your first acro frag, that's awesome. Leave it alone, it's only been three weeks and you talking about changing lighting already. Anyways without pictures no one can really give advice with confidence.
Here are pics of the frag having trouble.

Looks like the base of it got a little irritated from when it fell. It will be fine, I would not change a thing as long as it grows. It's your first reef. Keep it simple and be patient and things will do well for you

Hi I also run the black box leds. That looks like STN or RTN to me. I have shadowing as well on my corals from led. Your frag is straight up toast on the underside of the first pic.

I've quickly learned the difference between areas of the coral where the tissue loses color (shading I think) vs where it's dead. The dead give away is how it looks with just ambient room lighting or if algae grows on those areas. I think those pics show tissue death.

PE is a good sign. If that's a slimer, then it's a very hardy piece. I would just try to keep parameters as stable as possible, and monitor its progression.

Ok I figured it was tissue death. It always sucks when a coral isnt doing well. But at least it is a frag ha. So I'll monitor for some time and see what happens. If I do run T5s to the tank what bulbs would be best?

I'd go with a coral+ and blue+. Coral plus will help a lot with the shading.

If it fell, that's probably more likely reason for it losing tissue than anything else. My urchin has killed many a frag from them falling in the sand (RIP).

There is a lot of it shaded, but that will always happen and the best you can do it place it as good as you can. My shaded parts of acros may be more brown, but not dead (althought that can happen at the extremes).
