i bought 4 zoa colonies last week...i paid the required amount from the seller,i paid enough for him to ship it overnight..with the money i paid i am expecting him to ship it overnight/next day...

i got an email from the seller and said the corals/zoas are shipped BUT 2 day...i am so disappointed..i have never done or tried buying corals just to ship 2 day or to cheap out on shipping..now i am worried..

i dont know about UPS or USPS schedule but he didnt try fedex...he said that USPS next day/overnight doesnt deliver in my area...so he went to ups but then its too late (12:30) the truck already left...so he went back to usps and have them ship it 2 day guaranteed by 3pm for $41.00..thats what he said..and he said that he wouldnt have anymore spare time to ship it another day...

now i just hope my zoas are fine...but if u are me are u gonna be ok with that?

I would not be due to the fact I send usps overnight and it is only around 35-40 so for 2 day I think it is a little high.On the other side of it alot of zoos will survive the 2 day trip providing they are packaged properly with heat packs.Kinda shady but thats JMO.

yeah when i read the email i felt something not right...and then he said he put 2 hand warmers that he said will last for 18 hours and said not to worry and he said he put newspaper and its in a styro and that the zoas will be ok and blah blah but the point is i paid for shipping...its like i didnt have an option...
i am really frustrated...very disappointed..all i gotta do now is to just wait till wednesday for the zoas to arrive...
i know they will make it but why cheat?

Im not a fan of 2 day. I just lost some zoas two weeks ago due to USPS. In my case though they were shipped overnight but because of a mistake that usps made they did'nt come until the following day. My seller even put 40+ hour heat packs and they arrived very cold and dead. I dont think that 12 hour heat packs are going to cut it. Good luck though. Did you buy from a store or a hobiest? Either way make sure and share your experience so we can have a heads up before we buy from them.

Ricky,

Also, how did you pay? You may be able to file a dispute with paypal or with your credit card company. I wouldn't play around with this kind of stuff. You got screwed over on the deal. Hopefully everything comes in ok but I would let everyone know who this person is so that nobody else gets this treatment.

If the zoas can stay warm they will be fine.

I got a bunch of zoa frags last week from a local buddy of mine. I accidentally forgot to open one of the frag bags and left it floating for 4 days. When I found them they were open in the bag! LOL!

Also just a FYI that if the four zoa colonies were heavy enough then $41 could not be out of the question. What has happened to me is maybe what happened here. I sent out some zoas usps express, but to the address I sent the express was actually two days. I still paid express price but had to send them two days. What is your zip code?

I looked at your IP and it looks like you are from Puyallup, WA. All those zip codes for me will only do Express 2 day. No overnight for usps.

i havent got any package from usps..only UPS and fedex...i hope they will be ok though...he said that the box weighed 4.7 lbs...most are water weight thats what he said...they are just small zoa colonies, some are 40 polyps and the most are 80 polyps...
i bought it from somebody (NOT FROM HERE) that is getting out of the hobby so i guess he wont care any at all...
i am praying that the zoas will be ok...1 of them are palys and usually some palys are a bit sensitive...:(
i just hope usps doesnt screw up...he said that he paid 2 day guaranteed by 3pm...so we will see...

The only thing is the seller should have at least contacted and let you know what was going on.First off you might not have been able to be home that second day, another thing is is that it is just plain wrong for the seller to take judgement in their own hands and expect that to be what the buyer wanted.Like you stated, you will have to wait and see, if they get there ok then I would probally be ok with it,but if they did not then of course that would be a whole nother story.I hope all works well with ya and you might want to explore your refund options now maybe even with the seller as well, considering anyone knows that for washington state right now a 12hr heat pack is not going to cut it for 48hrs.Also before you out anyone see if they will correct everything,if they will work with you to clear up everything and make it right, you should give them the chance.I am not saying that what they did is right because it is not but everyone makes mistakes sometimes and everyone deserves the chance to right there wrongs. If they don't right the situation though, BURN'EM AT THE STAKE!!!!

For what it is worth,I have used usps many, many times and have not been let down but that is not to say at some point it won't happen.I understand wanting to save a bit though because fedex and ups are getting out of hand with their rate increases. My last box was 10x10x10 and weighed 6lbs and cost me 68 dollars for 10:30am guarantee.

Depending on how cold it is they might make it but if he is using a 12h heatpack then that is not good enough for 2days.... If heatpack expires it will all depend on the type of styrofoam box he used if it can hold the heat in for the remaining time or not..

this is the email that i got from the seller:

"Hi. I boxed them up at 12:30. The post office couldn't get them to your zipcode next day. I tried a UPS location but the truck had already come and gone, and they wanted $65 to ship it.

So, I decided to go back to the post office and take the guaranteed 2 day. Priority mail was saying 2 business days for $15.00 but it wasn't guaranteed.
I went with the 2nd day by 3 p.m. guarantee for $41.00. That's enough for next day shipping almost anywhere in the lower 48. I've never had to do this before. The box only weighs 4 lbs. 7 oz., mostly water weight.

So unfortunately, they won't be there until Wednesday. They are packed well. It is a thick foam box that Walgreens ships drugs in that have to stay cool. There's two hand warmers in with them that will last for 18 hours. All the dead space is packed with newspaper and it has a styrofoam lid. I really don't think it will lose much heat.

Anything else, I would have tried to come up with something else but zoos close up and protect themselves and can make it 2 day easily. Sometimes even 3 day. During the summer, they are shipped 2-3 day priority regularly.

Anyway, it's guaranteed. If they don't get there by 3 p.m. Wed., we get the shipping back and I will send it back to you. I hope this doesn't screw up anybody's schedule too bad. I really wouldn't have a chance to ship them any other time this week.

i just email back and ask why he didnt tried fedex and i will just let him know how the zoas do once i get them...he really is confident that the zoas will be fine but here in washington weather is cold day and night..:(

good thing i paid through paypal...i hope its wednesday now..im really hoping everything will be fine...

i really was hoping he could have just went home unpacked the corals, contacted me and if i have to add more money just for him to ship it as long as its overnight then im more than willing to send more money...

im not really in a hurry to get the zoas so if he ship it tomorrow for wednesday then i wouldnt be worrying like this...
and plus the 18hr heatpack..if its 40hr then i will be a bit relieved..

i got the zoas today..THANK GOD.....and yes hes telling the truth,he paid $41 shipping..i open the box,and the handwarmers are still a bit warm..like teeny bit...anyways he put it in glad containers and all the water leaked so theres barely water on the zoas..i quickly put it in a bag with my tank water...
he put 2 zoas in the same container so the zoas got all squished...the tiny bit water on one of the containers that has 2 zoa mini colonies are starting to stink...(critters are dead)...

to make the story short, everything is fine but if i didnt got it today i am sure i will be crying tomorrow:sure:
the zoas are still close...though i am really thankful that they came today:)

WOW nice! Im really suprised the heatpads stayed warm for that long!

I'll be hoping they pull though.
Make sure they get good flow. If there is any rotting material you want that to blow away.

I've had a couple shipments end up 2nd day. The last one everything survived. So there is a good chance yours will.

before light turn off,i took a quick pic of 2 of the zoas that are in the container where it starts to stink...half open but im thankful it made it...i check and theres no rotten flesh or dying polyps....the other 2 zoas are fine and already opened up
