Hello all been lurking around here for a few months now and have one tank running and another in the build process. I have a 15 gal Nano and was looking to add 1-2 shrimp preferable one of a different type. what are the best type I could get and will they fit? the tank has about 7-10 lb if live rock and 4" sand bed... (1) Clown Fish (1) Sea Horse Dwarf (1) Sand Sifting star fish (6-7) Nassarius Snails (2)Astrea Snail I think and (2) 1" Frags. I would like some kind of cleaner shrimp to obviously clean and to add I a little more color to the tank and the other would be some kind of shrimp that eats the astrea starfish or at least keep them in check. any help would be great.

The cleaner shrimps clean fish, not the tank. You could put in a skunk cleaner or a fire shrimp and they will eat what you feed the fish. Harlequin shrimp are the ones that eat starfish, but they will quickly eat all the Asternias you have and will need to be fed other live starfish.

If I was stocking, I would go with one of the two cleaner types for decoration (there is not enough room for both as they can be territorial) and throw in some peppermint shrimp or sexy shrimp. You will have to train all of then through feeding to come out more during the day.
