Long story short I’ve had two clowns for just over a month. For almost a week now they have stopped eating and one had white stringy poop. Don’t have quarantine tank so dosed the whole tank with prazipro 3 days ago.

Does it normally take a full month for parasites to show themselves? Should I do a freshwater dip ASAP or see if they will survive both prazipro doses first? I didn’t go with metro because fish won’t eat, so figured it wouldn’t work.

It's tough to say, but fish that aren't eating are often times on the wrong side of things already. I have found that less is more in these situations - pick a path and give it some time. Doing to many different things can cause unnecessary stress and stress is often times the driving force behind issues to begin with and can defiantly exacerbate them.

Thanks for the reply! I suppose I’ll just keep going with the prazipro for now and hold off on doing a fwd. I just find it strange because they were doing great for the first month then BOOM they get hit out of nowhere.

Can be internal issue. How is the clown's breathing and does the skin have a haze or milkiness starting to form on it?

The big one was breathing fast for a couple of days but now back to normal. The small one had been breathing fast for a week or two now. The big one seems to have lost some color in her face but I wouldn’t call it milkiness.

I suspect the onset of brooklynella or bacterial. Prazi good If you do indeed have internal issue and is known to lower oxygen levels as well as appetite.
Keep an eye on skin and for any hazy looks to the overall color.
Hopefully what youre experiencing is from the Prazi which again are typical side effects

Thanks for the input! I added a bubbler to help oxygenate the water more. Unfortunately they weren’t eating prior to starting prazi. We’ll see what happens. Would you suggest trying a freshwater dip, or just let the prazi do it thing for now? Also any tips on feeding? I’ve tried frozen brine shrimp, pellets, and even seaweed. Even the garlic guard isn’t helping.

No seaweed. Garlic is mainly for immunity system health and if not eating, dont feed for 24 hrs as it will just go to waste.
FW dip may or may not help. Just assure water temp is same as in the tank (77-79)
Your salinity should be 1.023-1.025
You may try live food such as Live brine shrimp

Well I’ve been continuing to feed because I also have a fire fish and fire shrimp in the tank. Both were added about a week ago and continue to eat and are doing well.

and just for info my parameters are as follows:
Salinity 1.025, ammonia 0, temp is 75.4 it’s usually 76 steady not sure why it dropped, nitrite 0, nitrate I believe is 5, ph is on the low side at 7.8 can’t figure out how to get it to rise, phosphates are 0.

Bring temp up to at least 77 deg and odd that you have a bunch of Zero readings. I assume youre using API test kits which are notorious for false/zero readings

Yes using api for everything but phosphates. Shouldn’t ammonia, nitrite and phosphates be at zero though?

Low yes, zero for nitrate and phosphate promotes cyano, diatoms and dino. .25 to .05 is very safe

Nitrate is 5 not zero, nitrite is zero though. We did have a big diatom bloom near the end of its s cycle but a turbo snail cleaned most of it up. Thanks again for all the info. It’s just frustrating because these guys were doing so good for the first month. Then all of a sudden they tank. Im guessing some of our new additions may have brought something into the system....unfortunately don’t have room for a qt ‍♂️
