skimmer over foaming

why is my skimmer over foaming all of a sudden. was fine all this time.

alk cal and mag are all where they should be but tank is still cycling. Any ideas?

Somthing was done to the tank, weather it be a new food, somthing on your hand, or a filter sock there are TONS of things that can make a skimmer go nuts.

Have you used any cycling chemicals?
I had Red Slime and forgot to turn my skimmer off and I had a foam factory,

Different chemical additives can cause it.

If not then it is doing what it is suppose to do, skimming out the protein waste.
Did you use RO/DI water?

i have added nothing except alk and cal and mag and yes i did add a bit of new food for the little fishy in there. but how long will it over foam? till i do a water change. i will wait till morning to see then do water change.

Adjust the skimmer so it isnt overflowing.
Maybe it needs to be readjusted.
What make skimmer ???

Most likely it was the food... If nothing else has changed, I know a few frozen foods make my skimmer go nuts!!!

You may want to hold off on doing an H2o change unless you know for sure that something bad got into your system.....if your tank is still cycling it may prolong the process.....what are all of your parameters? Do you have LR in there, you said you have a fish in there already?

DITTO, I feed different food in the course of a week and it affects my skimmer accordingly. When I feed chopped shrimp I get a full cup by morning, if I fed dry pellets of Formula 1 I get about 1/3 of my skimmer cup full.
