My swc 230's pump barely turns on now. Cleaned it out and now soaking in 50/50 vinegar/water. Crossing fingers now!! Anyway, how long before my system feels the effects of no skimmer? Obviously, wc each week until I get a replacement pump (which could be a few weeks, hopefully not more).

Btw, I know something is better than nothing, but I've got a no name skimmer (rated @ ?, probably 75g) that I'm gonna mod tomorrow and try to get some skimming done.

Y'all let me know your thoughts. Many thanks.

Thanks Adam. I've already contacted Luke @ reef filtration and been looking at a few online

That's funny, I just today received my replacement ceramic shaft to the Sicce 2500 on my SWC Extreme 200. I Had heard many stories of startup issues on these Skimmers and until just a couple weeks ago it had been flawless going on two years. I went the $17.99 shaft replacement rout first before upgrading to the newer Sicce 1000 $150 upgrade ???

Cheers, Todd

Wow Todd, yeah not sure on mine yet. Might mod my skimmer to buy me more time, lol.
