I can't seem to find ANYWHERE how to tune the D.C. Pump speed on my skimmer. I get the air valve and water gate but how can I figure out what is the optimal D.C. Pump speed for my tank? My SN143 has 8 speeds... what's the best???

i had it maxed out but lowered to speed 5 to see any difference, i would love to hear from someone that knows the real answer though.. hopefully someone chimes in!

I have the skimz sm253 with the DC pump. I don't the actual answers to your question but I found out with mine that one setting below the top works best for me. Reason: Running at max intact/speed I couldnt a good flow with the bubbles (I look for peas size bubbles in the neck rising slow). When I turn it down I get more consistent flow, better foam and pea size bubbles in the neck. I believe the speed adjustment is just another way to tune your skimmer to your liking. Again this is just how I look at it

+1 I have the Skimz monster DC 163 and I have mine one tick below max power, I run mine 24/7. About 8 months of use; my only issue is this pump sucks up snail shells like a boss and requires constant cleaning.

This is what Skimz said!
Good day to you Jason,

Since your tank is a mixed reef I will definitely recommend setting the pump at full speed.

As for the adjustments;
1. Leave the air valve wide open to maximize the skimmer performance.
2. Adjust the flood gate to dial in the water level.
