So my system has been running for all of 10 hours and my overflow with teeth is water falling down making a racket. I read that a smooth overflow would be quieter, I already have everything together though. I thought about running a piece of acrylic along the teeth but that didn't work. Any ideas how I can smooth this out. It would also bring my water level above the bottom of my trim.

Is there a way you can bevel the teeth? Create a 45 angle for the water to flow over rather the fall over a 90.

You need a standpipe inside the overflow box so the water only drops an inch or so as it goes over the teeth. Search standpipes like Durso, Stockman, Hofer, Herbie etc.

I think I'll have to get zen with the noise then. I already have drilled for and implemented a bean animal. I used the recommended distances for the holes. No going back now.

A dereso, stand pipe will fix it.

We have one on our 150g main tank made from 2 " pipe and the overflow box is silent. ....

Also on the cap on top make a small hole first then you can increase in size as you go..
