Spots on tail only

Please help. Just brought this fish home there's spots on his tail. What is it?

Could be a bacterial infection, could be lympho. But I would suggest QT for a Petco fish. They are really bad about velvet and ich.

Examine the body closely for other spots, or for other symptoms. If the body is clear and no other symptoms show, then its most likely a bacterial infection or lympho. How long did it take to get it home, it seems to spread fast if it was clear before which makes me lean more towards bacterial infection. In that case feed kanaplex + focus for full course (10 days) and hopefully it clears up.

I do think it looks bacterial, maybe a little fin-rot. I personally would probably QT and run a 10-day course of kanaplex or furan-2, dosing the water directly (no need to food-bind with focus if treating in QT since it's external)
