Dcal, do want to ask though, dont you think a 5" wrasse in a 20 is too small of a tank? These wrasses can and will grow that large
obviously but lesser of two evils. six line or other smaller fairy would be best but I tried my best lol

no I don’t wanna get a build of sulfide and I want more microfauna and places for things like polycheates to live. I’m all about biodiversity and bioactive tanks. I’d take a swamp blackwater or algae filled stream aquarium with tons of microfauna over a ada uns high tech planted tank with all the tech possible.

Wrasse have scales Right? Because I got a eel with no scales in my 40g fresh tank and it has big gravel and it dosent get hurt on it
It has to sleep in the sand and yes they can injure their scales on large particles and mouth. Don’t put it an unnatural environment for your own benefit.

Microfauna loves fine sand. What?!
spaghetti worms and such will thrive in it.

I also asked Noah, about rehoming freshwater fish before and he said he wouldnt as they were his pets he had so rehoming might be tough for him to do

then stick with the sixline and keep it for life

i do agree 6 lines suck and are mean (this was from my experience), no they definitely get larger than 4 inches, i have seen them. They are also thicker usually than coris, but like everyone including Dcal is saying, neither is the recommened fish for this size tank. Maybe a pink streaked wrasse would be good

yah I don’t believe he will rehome a fish. He will get attached for sure. Fishy lives will probably be lost :(

A large wrasse would need a 8ft tank if a 4” wrasse can’t go in a 20 long
main point: watch a coris wrasse swim. I have one in my 90 and that thing just hauls butt all day long. Yes it'll fit in a 20 but after you see what this thing does 90 seems small

coris shouldn’t be in a 20g it’s whole life. 40B maybeeee with a 75g being better.

20g long is a tiny tank for such an active fish.

I kept a baby coris in a 25g for a single year and then gave it an 80g. It uses the entire 80 and can put on the speed.

Oh and it ate small crabs and shrimp and most of the microfauna. big appetite and a small tank and they can clear it right out.
