I know palythoa get a bit taller, but I feel like these are really stretching. Is more light a solution? Do I even have a problem? I circled morphs that are staying tight in with the rock.

Some palys naturally have longer stalks while others will barely stretch, even when light deprived. However, yours do appear to be in need of more light. Your palys on the right are excessively long and other palys around the tank either closed or have small heads.

I had this same thing happening to me. They were also losing color. I tried turning the lights up but some of my lps didn't like it. I moved all of the paly's up to the very top with the SPS and they all shrunk back down and the color has been improving. I think they also like the increased flow.

Thanks... more light was my guess but I hate over reacting. I moved them on to a frag rack and about 3" higher to start. Hope it helps..... as far as the closed palys, I think they caught some debris from when I scraped the glass for a quick pic :)

Im having a similar issue with my older palys. I just purchased some new ones, so I've ramped up the lighting on them to try and avoid a similar situation. Im running a Radion XR15w, its about 8" off the surface of the water, and Im running them at 30% intensity now. My tank however, is only a 5 gallon and only 12" tall. The majority of the palys are in good contact with the flow from the powerhead... so I hope the lighting is the real solution. I had them on much weaker LEDs before I upgraded, so they have been stretched for a couple years now. Does anyone know if they might shrink bank down with increased lighting?

more light or move higher in the tank or lower the distance of the lights to the water............

I moved mine up on sat. And they already look better. Sad thing is I thought 15" off t5s was pretty close. The bulbs may be old and just not putting out the part they once were I guess.

Some zoas like, or can tolerate lots of light. 15"s from the t-5s IMO is not that close at all.ive got zoas at the top of my tank under leds at full power. distance is about 8 inches. 136 watts of leds too, so lots of light compared to t5s

Good to know. .. I guess I kept mainly LPS for so long I forgot what a lot of light was from my halide days. I need to borrow or buy a par meter I guess
