why does my superman monti seem to get really good color and then turn brown. then will get the color back after a while

could be alot of factors that cause it to stress out. what are your parameters?

How often do you change it because I've noticed that even the slightest change In water clarity and my superman starts to loose it's intensity might want to bring up you calcium and if your mag is to high it'll cause you superman to loose it's red color and blue will fade a little then go brown

Can fresh carbon really cause montis to bleach or brown because I replaced mine and maybe thats the reason they arent doing too well for me either

I don't run carbon at all, that way I don't have to worry about it impacting my water quality. It is bad all the time ;-) BTW, my superman is very nicely colored up and growing.

Ha,, i was wondering why my superman monti is always dark purple instead of bright blue base!

Could this theory apply to sunsets and rainbow monti's as well I have always had a hard time with these two corals coloring up.

my reverse superman does this too! i have frags of it, and then a colony on a huge rock and the colony is always changing colors where the frags all stay bright blue

I think the bigger question here is what's the placement most of all the above mentioned montis like high light moderate flow montis also like a little dirtier water vs acros
But yeah high mag above 1600 I've found my montis to start bleaching or maybe more fading I've found that while I've been dosing vod/mb7 and using brightwell's bio pellets that I've had much less color shifting in my montis because my water clarity is much better
But that doesn't mean you can't keep color In your montis if your monti starts to brown up move them into a little brighter area I've also found with montis that they will color up great when put in a new place then as the algae(color) ages it needs more light and will start to turn brown don't know just a few things I've learned over the years!
