i have had a few local reefers that have had there magnets rust. 1 magnet wiped out a friends 300 gallon sps reef-- rusted so bad that is deformed the plastic, another guy was moving his power head and dropped it on his carpet and it came apart and was rusting. he opened up the other 1 in his tank that wasnt dropped and was rusting, too.

if you use these i figured it would atleast give you a heads up

Thanks for the heads up. It's a good idea to inspect these, regularly, if you have them, to make sure that they're still in proper working order.

I've had several, in use for at least 5 years. They're all still completely sealed in plastic. I do inspect them, from time to time though, to make sure. I've had DIY magnet mounts, made of epoxy and Neodymium magnets, that have rusted out on me, eventually, but none every caused any issues with the tank.
