Currently have a pair of Clownfish (Orange/White) in a 30 gallon, a friend who is shutting down his tank has a black and white Clown he can give me.
I know if I add the clown there is a high chance it'll get bullied to death.
I was wondering if it would be alright to switch out the pair, maybe sell the female Orange, and keep the new black one, or could that cause issues?

If I were to put the clown in the tank, which of mine would be the aggressive one, the male or female?

Thank you

If the black and white clown is/was alone for any lengthy period of time it is a female and you would need to regime the female orange and white clown to make it work.

Also is the black and white clown bigger then your male orange white clown?

Yeah that makes sense, so it's probably a female right now.
No the black/white is actually smaller than both of mine.

I’d believe you would have an issue then. With the male being bigger he will want to turn female and the black and white one will most likely die

Thank you very much for the information, did not even think about it like that. Think I'm going to pass on the new guy then.

Thank you

I had a solo clown in my 65g and a pair in a nano. When the nano went down the pair in the nano came over as well. They pick at each other here and there but a year later all three are still here.

all fish are different so it could be risky. Could use an acclimation box so they see each other for awhile or a tank divider for awhile?
