I've been thinking about bulb combos for my aquatic life T5's and it got me thinking this might make for a good conversation.

When combining LED's and T5's which direction would you go: Is it better to get your white light from, T5's or your LED's?

Option 1 would be:
LED's have a very narrow wavelength spectrum so getting the "white" from the T5's seems like a better option. A T5 like aquablue special hits multiple wavelengths of white light where a white LED covers a very narrow wavelength. Combine that with the idea that blue LED's are generally accepted as effective and it might seem like one should get all the blue you need from LED and add the white wavelengths from T5.

Option 2 would be:
Since its generally excepted that blue plus and/or actinic T5 bulbs do grow coral, you could get just blue + or actinic T5 bulbs and use your LED's to add the white. This way you can adjust he quantity of white to meet your specific perfect eye spectrum. The control-ability of white LED spectrum would allow you add as much or little white as you like. Obviously you would still be using the blue LED's as well, just scaling up the white percentage.

Any opinions? Whats better get the white from T5 of from LED?
