I am upgrading my tank from 10g to 40b. I will have everything done to stat cycle after Thanksgiving weekend. I put a bag of biopellets on the sand bed on one side of my current tank and a 8X8X1 block of Marinepure against the glass on the other side so that I can have cycled media to hopefully speed up cycle. I just wanted to know if you guys think it would be better to place in DT or to go ahead and put in sump. I am going to be using the 10g as a quarantine so hoping that this will in fact speed up my cycle. Thank you in advance for any info.

Why did you put the biopellets in the sand bed of your 10 gallon again??? and regarding where to put your marine pure in the sump would be fine the bacteria will do the same job..

Just to have more cycled material to add to the new tank for more beneficial bacteria. I know the marinepure will have a ton of it but figured more couldn't hurt. I had them sitting around doing nothing so figured why not since they are only going to be in there a couple of weeks. So I could just put both the marine pure and biopellets in the sump then?
