I hear rumors that texas holy rock can be used in a reef tank and eventually turn into live rock. Is this true or false? Do I have to boil the rock first or something? I have two rocks that were used in my cichlid tank, but that didn't last very long. I also have a large piece of Lava rock as well. Pretty much just wondering if it is safe to use these large pieces to take up space under the true live rock in the main tank?

texas holy rock is just limestone and its fine in a reef tank. its usually not as porous as typical live rock so i would suggest a mix of the 2.

I have used both in the same tank wich housed sps, everything went fine until i broke my sump and removed the lava and holy rock. I would boil the rock before using it.
