Sorry about the first two posts. My problem is with a toadstool coral that seems to be losing its grip on the rocks. It is also drooping down almost completely vertical. Should I try to frag it and if so what would I attach it to? Or should I leave it alone and see what happens? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like it’s fragging it’s self.... any pics ?

Not techy enough for pictures. If I frag, where do I cut and do I glue to rocks or plugs?

Choose file and your pics should pop up

If it is new this could be normal. Sometimes they do not like the new location and will detach from a rock. If it has been in your tank for some time and you have not done anything different, (they can be sensitive to any change) you can move it to the sand bed for more support of the head. It should straighten back up on its own if its healthy.

Thank you. Will give a try. Will I need to cut it so it's not so long?

Consider not messing with it. Fragging is difficult as the glue won't stick . These softies are big sissy's & act like this over the littlest things.
If your determined to frag or shorten the stalk, shove a wooden toothpick thru the base & rubber band it to the rock. Eventually it will grow on to the rock pull out the tooth pick & your done.

I would not cut it. The stalk will shorten and expand on its own.

Really nice quality pic! Looks like it's unhappy. Would Xenia, GSP, and Zoas so close to it cause that kind of reaction? My toadstool is separated from other corals so I dont know from first hand exp.

Anyone else have an idea? This toadstool has been fine for at least two years in the same spot.

The base on both of those are extremely long. Have both of them been in turbulent waters? My Neon Green toadstool's base is maybe 2' max and the head is larger than my hand flat spread out. Mine where the folds are will actually start separating from itself, this is my way of knowing I need to frag it.

Is there a reason why that rock in the lower left is white like it is new?

I added that "new" rock to try to get toadstool to stay upright. It has now been removed. How do you frag yours?
